Swimming has an extraordinary educational power: a lot of the lessons we receive while swimming, can be found in everyday life. In fact, in our daily routine we can discover that swimming has its own… effects! Here we have 8 of the most important life lessons!


  1. DEDICATION IS AWARDED

In swimming results do not arrive immediately. You need a lot of determination and work before you can see your efforts allotted. Swimming teaches to never give up in front of first difficulties and to get back up after failures. In swimming, as in everyday life, you need a lot of dedication, and this is always granted, with a medal or just with the achievement of your goal.


  1. YOU SHOULD ACCEPT OTHER’S OPINION

If you want to improve you have to accept critics. If your trainer said that your exercise was wrong, you don’t have to argue with him. Instead, you have to work hard and remedy to your errors. You always have to be able to be auto – critics about your work: no one is perfect. Being able to embrace advice and accept your own errors, make you a better person.


  1. NEVER BE LATE

If you don’t want extra work, punctuality is essential! If your training starts at 5.00 pm, you should be into the pool at 5.00 pm! Nor a second of delay is accepted or your trainer will make you regret it! This will help you in your future job!


  1. HOW TO MANAGE WITH THE STRESS

Stress has a main role in everyday life and manage it is not so easy. Swimmers learnt that when life seems messed up, the best solution is that of going to the pool. A relaxing swim is the best way to get things back to.


  1. ORGANIZATION IS FUNDAMENTAL

They are few swimmers that only swim. The majority of us is studying or working. Hence, the management of the week is very important. Therefore, we learn to perfectly organize each part of the day, in order not to lose any second. This ability will be precious in your future job!


  1. TO BE PART OF A TEAM

To swim in a team brings yourself to have to whether to do with different types of people. To swim together means to work together, to help each other for improving, to understand and to accept the decisions and the choices of everyone. The team turns into a kind of family which teaches you that collaboration is important for the victory.


  1. TO CONTROL THE EMOTIONS

To be able to be concentrated before a race, keeping apart the anxiety, help not to get overly dragged by moods. It doesn’t need to run away from fear or excitement, it needs to face it. You must remind that after your start, all the adrenaline is transformed into power!


  1. IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU WIN OR IF YOU LOOSE, THE IMPORTANT IS TO RACE WITH HONOUR

It is not a true victory the one obtained throughout a shortcut. And it is not a true defeated the one obtained with efforts. Actually, a defeat can become a source of motivation to improve and to reach your future goals. The important is to always rise again after a fall.
