CHLORINE AND TAN: 3 RULES TO MANTAIN YOUR TAN

SUMMER: open air pools, sea, lake and most of all, sun! That of tan is a ritual that no one can give up to. You can get tanned while sunbathing on the beautiful Caribbean beaches or walking on lovely hills of Italy: this little cares. Everyone loves getting tanned and everyone tries to keep their tan. And so, is it true that the chlorine fade the tan?

Because of its chemical composition, chlorine dries the skin and it has an exfoliating function which tends to reduce the tan. Anyway, chlorine in the pools is dosed, so that it isn’t harmful. You should stay for entire days into the pool in order to shade your tan.

  1. TAKE A COLD SHOWER AFTER BATHING

Freshwater washes chlorine away from the skin. Moreover, the use of the cold water supports the tan not to fade away. So, immediately after your training, it’s good to take a cold shower.


  1. USE WATERPROOF SUNSCREENS

Waterproof sunscreens, not only protect us from sunlight, but they also moisturize our skin, preventing the drying action of chlorine. Moreover, as sunscreens do not dissolve into the water, they create a protective layer against chlorine.


  1. ALWAYS DEHYDRATE YOURSELF

You must not forget that skin is moisturized through the liquids that we introduce into our body drinking and eating. So, we need  to drink a lot of water and eat a lot of vegetables and fresh fruits, in order to avoid the drying effect of chlorine.
